Burns Night 2019

Cuimhnichibh air na daoine bho’n d’thainig sibh
“Remember the people from whom you come.”

Butte County Scottish Society was founded with the aim of promoting Scottish culture, customs and traditions, and the commemoration and exchange of Scottish memories and sentiments with fellow Scots at home and abroad. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Scottish culture or history.

We have a varied program of activities throughout the year beginning with our annual Burns Supper to honor Scotland’s favorite son, the poet, Robert Burns.  We have an annual Tartan Dinner to honor and recognize the many clans of our Scottish heritage.  Each year, we have an outdoor barbeque for all our members.  Our Scottish Society also participates in Kirking ceremonies and organizes other presentations, parties and events for the enjoyment of our members.

We strive to make events that are enjoyable for all our members.  You can count on bagpipe tunes, good company and good food at our gatherings.  All our events are an opportunity to appreciate some Scottish culture and enjoy the company of some really nice people.  We’ll also keep you informed of Highland Games and other Scottish themed events in our area.  We welcome anyone interested in celebrating our Scottish culture and heritage.
